Garnet
Garnet is the stone people bring me from a grandmother’s brooch more often than any other, because it was everywhere in Victorian jewellery. It sets beautifully and it survives. Worth knowing that a deep almandine reads almost black in a small silver bezel — I usually push people towards rhodolite for anything under 5mm.
