Every link cut, closed and soldered individually, then the whole chain twisted and filed flat so it lies rather than rolls. Two days of repetitive work, and the reason a hand-made chain costs what it costs.

Looking after it
Nothing much. A soldered chain has no weak open links, so this is the one piece here you can genuinely wear and forget.
Resizing, re-polishing and re-blackening are free on anything from this bench, for as long as she is working. Everything else has a published price.
